About Us |
Welcome to the official Web site of the Seminole Alumni
Foundation Inc. We are the alumni club of the Eta-Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Pi
Fraternity International at Florida State University - home of the Seminoles.
The chapter, first colonized in 1988 with a group meeting in
room 144 of Osceola Hall (a residence hall near the campus of Florida State),
became chartered on November 19, 1988, with 75 founding fathers.
The first house that the chapter occupied was at 409 W.
College Avenue. A year later, the chapter settled into the house at 447 W.
College Avenue, where it established itself as one of the up-and-coming new
fraternities and dominated intramural wrestling for six years. The chapter also
established the popular and successful fundraiser, Tiger Toss, a cheerleading
competition with FSU sororities. Brothers came to hold numerous leadership
positions in the greek and campus communities.
The chapter continued to grow and thrive until March 2001,
when its charter was revoked by Sigma Pi's national office, and it was ordered
to close by the FSU Office of Greek Life, due to financial mismanagement and
poor risk-management practices. The chapter was allowed to recolonize in the
fall of 2004, but was again shut down by Sigma Pi Fraternity International for
poor communication and poor risk management. The Seminole Alumni Foundation is
currently working with the fraternity's national office and the university's
Office of Greek Life for a possible return to campus in spring 2007.
Until then, the Seminole Alumni Foundation Inc. is committed
to locating all alumni in good standing from Eta-Epsilon; keeping them informed
about alumni events thru e-mails, alumni area clubs, and this Web site;
fund-raising efforts; and continuing the bonds of brotherhood. Sigma Pi
Fraternity International was founded in 1897 at Vincennes University in Indiana.
There are currently more than 100 chapters in the United States and Canada, with
more than 75,000 alumni.
