Paxten Mitchell |
One of our fellow alumni is in need of our assistance and I am hoping that we can come to his aid the same way everyone came together to help five of our fellow alumni after Hurricane Katrina displaced them from their homes. Rob Mitchell was a member of the Xi pledge class and one of the many alumni that is from the Panama City area. Rob and his wife Amy are proud parents of a two year old son, Paxten. Paxten has been diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia and is in need of all the love and support he can get. One of Rob's good friends and fellow alumni Dion Moniz has informed me that Amy has had to quit her job in order to help care for Paxten and their health insurance will not cover all of the medical expenses that Paxten will need in order to fight to overcome the rare form of Leukemia that he has. There is a website set up that will give you background and pictures of Paxten at www.caringbridge.org/visit/paxtenmitchell (or you can contact Rob and Amy at robnamy@bellsouth.net). To make a donation please mail a check to The Eblen Foundation, 12 Regent Park Blvd, Asheville, N.C. 28806 and you need to indicate "for Paxten Mitchell fund" on the check. The foundation is tax deductible and they will send you a letter confirming your donation that can be used as a receipt for tax purposes and currently check via mail is the only way to make a donation. Your support with this great cause would be greatly appreciated and any amount will be a huge help to Rob and his family as this will be an ongoing need for them. I cannot express how proud I was of our alumni when we raised over $5000 in a months time to help Mike, John, Chris, Ryan, and C.J. after Hurricane Katrina hit and I am hoping we can do the same this time for Rob. My hope is that the Seminole Alumni Foundation will continue to be a source of any assistance for our fellow brothers in their time of need. Thanks to Dion Moniz for bringing this great cause to our attention. Please email me at spenceloriklein@aol.com with any questions or feedback.
