To all alumni and colony members:

Greetings.  Hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far and gearing up for an exciting Fall for not only the FSU football team under new and exciting coaching, but also for Eta Epsilon first full semester back on campus.  Lots going on in the next few months so I thought I would bring everyone up to speed:

Colony:

By all accounts, the colony had a great first semester on campus.  As I am sure the original founding fathers of 1988 can attest, starting up a new colony is very intense with lots of things to establish in a short amount of time in addition to the members going to school, work, and other committments.  With a meeting at the end of the semester with Jim Divita, Director of Sigma Pi expansion and Courtney Barry, Director of Greek Life office, the colony has met or exceeded all of their goals and expectations to this point.  The guys had an eventful first semester with their first crush, alumni / founder's day bar-b-que, and preparations for the fall semester including setting up socials, pairing with Phi Mu for homecoming, establishing their community service A.C.E. project that will clean up and make improvements to the FSU REZ, and establishing their Sam Spady philanthropy by inviting Samantha Spady's mother to do a presentation to the greek community regarding alcohol awareness in the Fall.  In addition, the colony is actively working on recruitment with a weeklong list of activities this week including a poker tournament at Southgate Campus Center with the help of fellow alumnus, Jamie Thomas, that will be geared toward incoming freshman and other interested students.  They are also holding another alumni / active event on July 7th at the FSU REZ that local alumni will be receiving more info on soon.  The colony is also sending three members to a Leadership conference in Tennessee for Nationals this summer where they hope to gain important information and positively represent the colony. They are currently on track to charter with nationals in Spring 2008 and are hoping to have a house in place by Fall 2008 at the latest.  I recently met with Joe Drain, Colony president, and a few other colony members and they expressed to me how grateful they are for the support of the alumni to date. They feel it has been a huge advantage for them and they are eager to meet and speak with alumni to get view on the history of the fraternity and learn the origins of Eta Epsilon's roots.  I would encourage all alumni to take just a few minutes to email Joe at jkd05d@fsu.edu to offer words of support, advice, suggestions, etc... as they guys really do appreciate it and it helps to further motivate them to restore Eta Epsilon as one of the top chapters on campus.  With current suspensions of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Tau Omega for the Fall semester and possibly beyond, we are in a great position to become one of the top tier fraternities at FSU in a short amount of time.  SAF will be presenting a $1000 check to the colony this month to be used to help establish the criteria set forth by nationals for chartering and thanks goes out to the alumni that have made donations to SAF to help make this gift possible.

FSU Football:

A new football season is right around the corner and while we only have 5 home football games we have two big away games that should be exciting games and be loaded with Seminole fans.  SAF will be throwing at least two tailgates along with the colony this upcoming season.  We will be having something for the Miami game for sure and then will leave it up to alumni correspondence regarding the second game either Maryland or NC State.  We also have tailgates planned for two big away games:  FSU vs Alabama in Jacksonville.  Alumnus,  John Klein has already secured tailgate spots for the game and is planning a tailgate for the game with SAF support.  Also, the FSU vs Colorado game in Denver also has planned events for the entire weekend including a tailgate by alumni: Dennis Solo, Kent Underwood, Adam Lee, Hector Mejia, and Von Limbaugh who all reside in the Denver area.  All current information can be found on the alumni website at www.sigmapifsu.com with more specific details in the coming months.  I look foward to having a large alumni turnout for all the events as well as a good turnout from the colony members.

Other than that, not much else going on at the moment.  I am going to continue my pursuit of locating as many alumni as possible this summer as I have taken a few months of this.  Again, if you receive my emails and plan on changing your email address, home address, phone #, etc... in the near future please email me at spenceloriklein@aol.com with the changes or you can go to the website and click on update my information.  I would greatly appreciate it as I have lost about 15 guys in the past several months who I now have to try and locate on top of the guys still missing, so your help keeping the database updated is crucial.

Thanks again for your time and continued support and please keep in touch.

 Fraternally,
