Nationals Correspondence

Message sent 1/4/2007

Gentlemen,
I hope everyone had a great Holiday season and your New Years went well. It is
about time for many of you to get back to school and some of you on the quarter
system are already back. The Executive Office is also back open and we are
preparing to head back on the road beginning next week and get our newly
elected officers educated on your roles and duties as leaders of your
chapters/colonies. I want to take some time to remind people of a few items and
bring you up to date on information you may find important this semester.

Mid-Year Leadership Conference
If you have not already done so, get on-line today and register your Sage, Third
Counselor and Recruitment Chair for Mid-Year at http://www.sigmapi.org/. We
have also included the agenda for both the Undergraduate and Alumni programs.
This will help with making travel arrangements.
We have seen a lot of growth in attendance with this program over the years: 2003
(219 brothers), 2004 (239 brothers, up 9%), 2005 (256 brothers, up 7%), and 2006
(325 brothers, up 26%)!!! The number of groups attending has increased as well:
2003-71 groups, 2004-70 groups, 2005-79 groups, and 2006-95 groups!!!!
This has been a great, interactive conference and our new leaders have praised it
for helping them to have a better understanding of their roles and obligations as
leaders in our Fraternity. You do not want to miss out!!!

ACE Projects
I would like to remind our new officers that our goal for ACE Projects this year is
115. We currently only have 16 projects registered. Last year in 2005-2006 your
predecessors helped surpass our goal of 100 by completing 108 projects around
the country. Since its inception 3 years ago we have seen this project go from 33
to 87 to 108!!! This is Sigma Pi’s trademark and our host institutions have spread
the word around the country about our Fraternity and the positive things we do
through ACE. We want to keep that up, after all we are changing the Greek
World and this is one of our key points. Go to
http://www.sigmapi.org/ACE/index.cfm and get yours registered.
VERY IMPORTANT: You MUST get with the University and ask them what Sigma
Pi can do for them to make this project complete!! Get your ACE chair up to
campus immediately to get ideas and begin planning. We have new ACE
Banners waiting to send to you.

Sam Spady Foundation
This past Convocation in New Orleans your chapter brothers voted to drop the
American Red Cross as our National Philanthropy and move it to the Sam Spady
Foundation. Some of you have already completed a Sam Spady Project and
reported it to us with your man hours completed and/or money collected to be
donated to them. We are also in the process of putting up a registration link
similar to the ACE link, until then you can simply send your project information to
Jen Wyatt at jwyatt@sigmapi.org. She will record your project, man hours
completed and money raised. We do ask that you send the check here and we
can document it and forward it on to the Sam Spady Foundation. If you have
completed a project already let us know the above information for documenting
purposes.
VERY IMPORTANT: Sam Spady and ACE are TWO separate projects.

Recruitment
This past fall we had a very good recruitment period as an organization and your
new members should be ready to initiate. We need for you to get their forms/fees
in so we can process them and get them their materials and track the growth of
our Fraternity. It is also time for recruitment to begin again. I hope you have your
recruitment plans made and prepared and you are going to reach your goals that
were provided by the Executive Office for each chapter. If you do not know what
those goals are contact your ELC and they will be able to get you that
information.
We are also having a professional speaker from Phired Up Productions at Mid-
Year to offer new insight and ideas for recruitment (another change for Mid-Year).
We look forward to reaching the growth goals of the Fraternity as we continue our
journey to truly be the best fraternity in the Greek World. Just as you compete on
campus with other fraternities for recruitment, we as an entire Grand Chapter
compete against the other fraternities on the National scale. We have been
making head way and turning heads for a couple of years now, so let’s all work
together to keep that up. We truly do have the best fraternity that a man can
join!!! If you need more recruitment materials you can order them through
jwyatt@sigmapi.org.

Gold Standards
Since you are a new officer I would suggest going to the Cornerstone Concept
section on the website http://www.sigmapi.org/cornerstone/index.cfm and
downloading your officer manuals, Constitution & By-Laws, Risk Management
manual and the Gold Standard. These are manuals that will help you run an
efficient chapter; if you can get an 80% or above on the Gold Standard you have a
very good chapter. At the same time you need to submit one both years in the
biennium to be eligible for awards at Convocation in 2008 in Long Beach, CA.
This document is due May 15th. Our ELC’s can help answer questions you may
have in concerns to it.

That is all for now, there will be more in the Bulletin that will be sent out next week
along with the Balance (Risk Management Publication). We will also go over
some of these topics again at Mid-Year. I thank you for taking the time to read
this email and look forward to seeing you in St. Louis, home of the 2006 World
Series champs!!!! (Sorry D-town). Best of luck to you as you begin this New Year
and new semester.

IST,

Jonathan M. Frost
Assistant Executive Director
