The Sigma Pi Kimberly M. Adams Memorial Scholarship

Kimberly M. Adams was the sweetheart for 1995 of the Eta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Pi and the girlfriend of Sigma Pi brother John Maceluch. She was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and served as its vice president. In addition, she served as president of the Society for Women Engineers and was a member of Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society that distinguishes the top 15 percent of students enrolled in the Florida A&M University/Florida State University College of Engineering.

Above and beyond scholastic achievement, Kimberly dedicated herself to the betterment of others through several local charities and youth-tutoring programs. After graduating cum laude in engineering from FSU in the spring of 1995, she was to attend North Carolina State on an academic scholarship. Sadly, Kimberly passed away during the winter break of 1995 due to complications with asthma. She was an extraordinary women and the loss felt by those who knew her is profound. She will remain forever in our hearts because the love she gave continues to enrich the lives that she touched.

To honor the memory of Kimberly M. Adams, the Seminole Alumni Foundation Inc. - which is the alumni club of the Eta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Pi -  will bestow two $250 scholarships at Florida State University each academic year. The first $250 scholarship will be given out in the fall to a sorority member who best exemplifies many of the same characteristics that Kimberly did. Applications will be distributed by the Eta Epsilon Chapter and also will be available online at www.sigmapifsu.com. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 31. A winner will be announced two weeks later.  Three finalists will be selected by the executive council and voted on by members of the Seminole Alumni Foundation and by members of the Eta Epsilon Chapter.  A second scholarship, also in the amount of $250, will be awarded in the spring to a undergraduate member of the Eta Epsilon Chapter who best exemplifies the spirit of Sigma Pi and who excels in academics and campus involvement. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 28, with winners announced two weeks later. This award will be narrowed down to two finalists and will be voted on by members of the Seminole Alumni Foundation Inc. and by members of the Eta Epsilon Chapter.
